America Meri (McCabe) Pruett was born on July 03, 1957 in Morrilton, AR and was the daughter of William M. and Ernestine (Rebstock) McCabe. Meri passed away peacefully at her home with her loved ones surrounding her on Monday, July 18, 2022. \r\n\r\nIn her younger years Meri was a veteran in the United States Airforce and was proud to serve her country. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in Fisheries and Wildlife from Arkansas Tech University; where she obtained knowledge she valued throughout her lifetime. \r\n\r\nMeri was a resident of Petit Jean Mountain for 38 years and there was no place she would rather be. She was a Christian and baptized at Ada Valley Community Church. She retired from the Petit Jean Volunteer Fire Department District 5. She was kind and loving to her neighbors in her community.\r\n\r\nMeri's love for nature and appreciation she had for God's creation could not be summed up in a few words. Meri had a competitive athletic spirit and was exceptional at her passion, fishing. She also enjoyed hunting, walking her dog, Bo, in the late hours of the night, and teaching grandson, Ethan, about life skills and wildlife. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver to her mother and mother-in-law. Meri will be missed tremendously and her memory will be treasured. \r\n\r\nMeri is preceded in death by her parents: William and Ernestine McCabe; sister-in-law: Carolyn Smith; mother-in-law: Orphie Pruett; father-in-law: Donald "Buster" Pruett. \r\n\r\nMeri is survived by her husband of 38 wonderful years: Rickey Pruett of Petit Jean Mountain; daughter: Rikki Runnels and husband Jonathan of Petit Jean Mountain; grandson: Ethan Runnels-Hunt of Petit Jean Mountain; brother: Paul McCabe and wife Betty of Morrilton, AR; sister: Beverly Clayton of Adona, AR; along with a host of other extended family and friends. \r\n\r\nServices will be held Friday, July 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Petit Jean Cemetery on Petit Jean Mountain. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice to honor Meri's memory. \r\n\r\nService and arrangements are by Neal's Rosewood Funerals & Cremation 1715 E.
